Ebook About He started off as her enemy… and became her everything.Like most humans, NYU student Mia Stalis knows little about the beautiful, mysterious invaders who’ve taken over Earth. Rumors about them abound: about their impossible strength and speed, their intentions toward Earth… their vampiric tendencies. None of it concerns Mia, though—until she catches Korum’s eye.Powerful and terrifyingly seductive, the Krinar leader will do anything to possess her—and no human law can stop him. Helplessly drawn to her magnetic captor, Mia is plunged into the dangerous, secretive world of the Ks and forced to choose between truth and lies, her people and her lover… her freedom and her heart.NOTE: This is the complete Krinar Chronicles trilogy, containing Close Liaisons, Close Obsession, and Close Remembrance.Book Mia & Korum: The Complete Krinar Chronicles Trilogy Review :
I really enjoyed this trilogy and I'm going to confess that I went into it with the negative reviews in mind. I have a habit of always going to the 1 and 2 star reviews first as I tend to believe that they tend to be the most honest. That being said I didn't find it all to be "rapey" at all, I saw it as an alien who was determined to get what he wanted and used less than moral (by our standards) means of doing so. He didn't have to abide by human laws so he did what he liked. The first book was by far the best, in that it set the stage for the subsequent realizations by Korum just how much it meant for Mia to make her own decisions and come to her own conclusions about her feelings and how much she would have to give up to be with him. The second and third books built on that. He was the definition of an alpha male and she was a strong female (in her circumstances). What I had a problem with was with the sex, well not the act itself but the MINDBLOWING amount of REPETITION involved. I'm sorry but having an orgasm the first time you have sex with an over endowed alien, an orgasm is the last d--- thing this is going to happen especially since the pain was described as painfully overwhelming. I don't see why writers seem to think that the first time a woman has sex that there is going to be a "slight pinch" and then absolute heaven. In my experience and other women I have talked to, this is NOT the case (I'm sorry it just irks me to no end and a bit of realism is in order (as my eyes roll back into my head so often, I think they will stay that way, end rant). Furthermore I think that the phrases "mind shattering ", "exploding into a million pieces ", "screaming"(while in the throes of an orgasm) and other stupid overused descriptors should be outlawed and a thesaurus be used to beat writers who can't or won't find other words to use. I understand that Korum was highly sexed but come on, on every other page?I liked the world building and would like to see more of it in future books. Like what the government officials did, describe the Great Panic, what happened in other countries and the like. I like details, it gives me more of a connection to what I am reading and an idea of what the characters have experienced or are going through. I would also like to see more from the heroes perspective. What I didn't like was Mia's constant whining about "intelligent beings" being killed. It happens, get over it. Quit complaining about it. Also humanity is not at the point where it would benefit the planet by extending their lives or sharing the technology. It seemed like a cop out in the end. I would have preferred that the Elders were more prudent on that matter. So all in all I really enjoyed this story and I look forward to more like this. I am new to this genre, I prefer books by the GREAT Stephen King. I signed up for kindle unlimited and although this book isn't offered there, I have found that good storytelling (without grammatical, spelling errors and basic sentence structure) are few and far between. I would definitely recommend this trilogy. I purchased this book a while ago, I think about a year ago. Couldn’t get through the first book at that time and recently came back to it. I really wanted to like it, I’m a huge nerd for anything space or sci-fi, and some romance too?? Right up my alley. I’d forgotten why I stopped reading in the first place...the relationship between Korum and Mia is so harmful and toxic. He essentially takes over all decision making in her life and disregards her when she says she doesn’t consent. In fact, when he wasn’t laughing at her resistance he was basically threatening her. There were so many other examples but I guess I don’t want to spoil the book for the people that can look past this. Material like this is harmful to young impressionable people and I would hope that any person that finds themselves in an abusive, controlling situation like this would have the support and the strength to free themselves.
